The country was gripped by power outage on Saturday as the Bangladesh-India power interconnection line in Bheramara of Kushtia tripped.

The national power grid suffered a breakdown at about 11:30 am disrupting power generation at all power plants across the country.

Important establishments including Bangabhaban, Ganabhaban, Prime Minister's Office and the National Parliament are out of electricity.

Meanwhile, Shahjalal International Airport and Dhaka Medical College are carrying out emergency activities with alternative arrangements.

A PDB official said  that power generation may be resumed fully by 3:00pm.

Another PDB source said that normaly might be brought back by evening.
