NATORE: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia left Dhaka for Natore on Saturday morning to address a public rally.
She started her journey from her Gulshan residence in the capital around 10:30am, sources said.
Khaleda Zia will address a rally at Nawab Siraj-Ud-Daulah Govt. College field around 4pm.
She will stay at Natore Circuit House.
UNB adds, the local unit of the 20-party alliance has arranged the rally as part of its fresh countrywide mass campaign to create a solid ground for a decisive movement to force the current administration to quit and arrange a fresh inclusive election.
The Natore town wore a bright and festive look as its central points have been decorated with colourful banners, posters, festoons and placards and arches have been erected on different roads to welcome the BNP chief.
Portraits of BNP founder late president Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia, her son Tarique Rahman and district BNP leaders, including its president Ruhul Kuddus Talukder Dulu, have also been put on display at several points in the city.
The rally was originally scheduled to be held on October 30 but it was deferred to November 1 for unavoidable reasons on Monday night.
This will be Khaleda’s 7th district tour after the January-5 election boycotted by the BNP-led opposition alliance.
Earlier, Khaleda went to Rajbari on March 1, Munshiganj on May 28, Joypurhat on June 22, Brahmanbaria on September 23, Jamalpur on September 27 and Nilphamari on October 23 where she addressed public rallies.
