DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Oct 28, 2014 (BSS)-President Abdul Hamid today urged the Muslim World to seriously consider a new development plan and framework of cooperation for their economic development.
"It is time for all of us to seriously consider a new development narrative and framework of cooperation. Our people and their well-being will have to be at the centre of any new innovative partnership for inclusive growth framework for the Muslim countries, "the President told the opening of World Islamic Economic Forum (WIFE) at Madinat Jumerah Conference centre here.
He said the theme "Innovative Partnership for Economic Growth" of this forum is timely. At the UN, the global community is currently discussing a global development agenda for the next five-year period, he said, adding that Bangladesh has emphasized on the importance of securing dignity, well-being and inclusion of people in the future development frameworks.
Though Bangladesh has limited resources and face challenges, it has met six out of eights MDGs and its reliance on homegrown innovation and mobilization and utilization of local resources was behind this success and resilience, President Hamid added.
"We believe sustainable development can only be achieved through development of people's skills, knowledge and capacities in a knowledge-based society and it is overall development of a country that can secure peace and uphold justice and democratic values.     ?BSS
