Sir,
Recently I visited the Institute of Neurosciences, Kolkata (I-NK) in connection to my younger sister's treatment, who has been suffering from Lumber Spine disorder. I-NK is indeed a hospital with a good team of specialized doctors plus modern neurological treatment facilities. What we appreciated most is the sincere efforts of I-NK to cure a patient through team approach. The hospital has a Medical Board under the Chairmanship of Dr Robin Sengupta, Emeritus Professor of Neurosurgery and Consultant Neurosurgeon which regularly holds meeting with patients and attendants for open discussion with all the major specialists of the hospital to help the In-charge Consultant(s) for the patients to adopt appropriate strategies for treating them, especially those who have complications or critical medical history. This board facility is offered to the patients free of charge.
The I-NK has accomplished a great reputation in managing and curing stroke patients. In the corridors of the hospital, an alarming information is on display-"Every 6 seconds some one in the world suffers a Brain Stroke". According to Prof Sengupta if a stroke patient could be rushed to an appropriate hospital within few hours of the mishap, the patient can be cured to a greater extent.
There are other branches of neurological treatment facilities in I-NK for both adults and children. Overall, the I-NK's system of treating patients is praiseworthy.
