Security strengthened at N’ganj court after bomb threat

Security measures were strengthened in the Narayanganj court area on Sunday following a threat of bomb attack.

District Bar Association president Sakhwat Hossain said a tense situation has been prevailing on the court premises after his two junior colleagues received threat on their cell phones.

On Saturday, pro-BNP lawyer Saidur Rahman received a text message which reads—“A bomb attack will be launched soon at the Narayanganj Judge Court.”

At 2:44pm on Sunday,  pro-Awami League lawyer Rekha Akhter got a similar SMS thus created panic among the lawyers.

The District and Sessions Judge and the district police administration have been informed about the threat.

Court police inspector M Habibur Rahman said additional police have been deployed in the court area following the threat of bomb attack. The main gate of the court was kept closed and the law enforcers restricted the movement of the people on the court premises.

Meanwhile, the district Bar president expressed his dissatisfaction over the “insufficient security measures” in the area.
