A sedition case was filed on Sunday morning against BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman for calling Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rhaman as “Pakbandhu".

Advocate Abdul Malek, president of Bangabandhu Foundation, filed the case with Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM).

He filed the case with the court of magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor.

Later, the court ordered the Detective Branch (DB) of police to submit the investigation report within October 30 after investigation.

On October 14, Abdul Malek sent a legal notice to Home Secretary and Inspector General (IG) of police as the representatives of the government.

According to case statement, Tarique Rahman called Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rhaman as the friend of Pakistan and also claimed Ziaur Rahman as the ‘first president’ of Bangladesh while addressing a programme at York Hall in London on September 29.
