
"Many people in the developed countries have been infected with the disease, but no Ebola case has so far been detected in Bangladesh owing to the instant measures taken by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare," he said while speaking as the chief guest at a workshop at Shaheed Shamsuddin Conference Hall of Sirajganj Collectorate Building early Saturday afternoon.
Nasim said 23 teams of the Ministry of Health are now working to check Ebola virus coming to Bangladesh. Steps have been taken to procure sophisticated equipment along with six thermal scanners to detect Ebola virus as quickly as possible.
He said check posts will be set up at all entry points in the country to prevent any outbreak of Ebola virus.
There is no reason of worry about Ebola virus as Bangladesh still is an unaffected country, Nasim said adding "We are closely monitoring Ebola virus as the World Health Organisation declares the fatal disease as international health emergency."
The health minister said the government will continue its efforts to safeguard the health of country's people. But, it requires political stability in the country.
With Director General of the Directorate of Family Planning Noor Hossain Talukder in the chair, the workshop was participated by Dr Habibe Millat Munna MP of Sirajganj-2 (Sadar-Kamarkhand) constituency, Hasibur Rahman MP of Sirajganj-6 (Shahjadpur) constituency, Selina Begum Shopna MP of the reserves seats of women, Director of the Directorate of Family Planning Dr Mohammad Sharif, DR Sanjay Kumar Chandra, Dr Taposh Ranjan Das, deputy commissioner Md Billal Hossain, Sirajganj civil surgeon Dr Shamsuddin, Kamarkhand upazila chairman Mohammad Ali Akand, Mozammel Huq Sarkar Bakul and field worker Nasrin Sultana.
