
Earlier, a third and fourth Namaj-e-Janazas for Peu were held in the district.
The Namaj-e-Janaza for the photojournalists was held at a mosque in the capital's Dhanmondi whie the second one at the National Press Club on Tuesday.
The body of Peu was brought here from the capital early Friday and put at his Guptapara residence in the city till 10 am.
From there, the body was first taken to Rangpur Press Club and kept there till 11 am for paying tributes by his fellow journalists and later to the Rangpur Shaheed Minar premises.
Public representatives, politicians, leaders of professional organisations, family members, relatives and people from all walks of life placed floral wreaths at Peu's coffin to pay their last respect.
City mayor Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu, Advocate Hosne Ara Lutfa Dalia MP (reserved), Rangpur District Council administrator and district Awami League president Momtazuddin Ahmed, city Awami League president Safiur Rahman, other leaders of AL, Rangpur Journalists' Union, Rangpur Press Club, Rangpur Photojournalists' Association, City Press Club, Reporters' Club, Mahiganj Press Club, Television Sangbadik Forum, Daily Baher Songbad Family and some socio cultural and professional organisations paid their respect to Peu.
The third Janaza attended by hundreds of people including the city mayor, politicians and journalists was held on the Shaheed Minar premises.
Later, his body was taken to the Daily Baher Songbad office and kept there for somtime for paying tribute by the journalists, officials, employees and workers of the popular local Bengali daily newspaper edited and published by Peu.
The fourth and last Namaj-e-Janaza was held at the Fire Service & Civil Defense Station Jam-e-Mosque ground. Minster for Primary and Mass Education Mostafizur Rahman Fizar and City mayor Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu, among others, attended the janaza.
Before the last Namaj-e-Janaza, Minster Mostafizur Rahman delivered a brief speech terming demise of dedicated photojournalist Peu as an irreparable loss for the country's photojournalism arena.
Peu, also a founding member of Drik News, a teacher of photography training school Pathshala, and the president of Bangladesh Photojournalists Forum, died of cardiac arrest in the early hours on Tuesday last in the capital city at the age of 50.
He left behind wife, a daughter, a son, host of relatives, friends, admirers and well-wishers to mourn his death.
