KHULNA, Oct 13: The leaders of Jatiya Protibandhi Oikkya Parishad and Protibandhi Nagarik Parisad at a human chain on Monday raised their three-point demand including to ensure equal representation of the physically challenged population at all levels through proper implementation of the Disabled People's Rights Protection Act-2013 for their welfare and development.
The human chain was formed in front of Khulna Press Club for half an hour at 11:30am with its President Molla Abdul Malek in the chair.
Secretary General of Jatiya Protibandhi Oikkya Parishad Masum Khalifa, executive Director of USHA Dr Kabir Hossain, General Secretary of KDDO Noor Muhammad, General Secretary of PPKS Lokman Howlader, Chairman of DWO SK Zikrul Islam, general secretary of KPS Kazi Asgor Ali, General Secretary of NFB Kazi Asgor Ali and coordinator of PNSP Iftekhar Mahmud, among others, addressed the human chain programme.
The speakers stressed ensuring congenial environment for the physically challenged, intellectually disabled and autistic children to flourish their latent talents and abilities for mainstreaming with the process of building a developed Bangladesh.
The physically challenged and intellectually retarded children must be treated as an integral part of the society as many of them have proved abilities and talents in education, sports and extracurricular activities bringing dignity and honour for the country, they said.
