Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has allowed the Energy Division to negotiate with SEMBCORP, a Singapore based company, for installing dual fuel 367 MW power plant at Sirajganj .
The Energy Division is going to start discussion with the officials of SEMBCORP Industries Ltd this week, informed an official of energy Division.
The plant will be set under 'Quick power supply act- 2010'. The plant proposal should follow the Lenco proposal, otherwise the discussion will not be fruitful, he said.
The government rejected the contract for SirajgAng 367MW with Lenco Infratech Ltd India last September due to guarantee money.
Power Development Board Chairman Abduhu Ruhullah said the Lenco failed to set up the plant in time. We will propose to fix the price like Lenco proposal.
To set up the power plant the government signed contract in September 23, 2012. The Lenco did not complete the plant within two years. The estimated price was Tk 3.19 per unit, he added.
As per the contract the Lenco has to pay USD 32,26,400 but Lenco failed to pay the money in time then the government has decided to cancel the contract 15 April 2014. Asian Development bank (ADB) and Singapore based financial company CLIFFORD are interested to provide money for the Power plant, he further added.
