Cabinet Secretary M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan on Saturday said Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Abdul Latif Siddique would be removed from the cabinet anytime.
"President returned home from Saudi Arabia. We will send the related documents to the President for his signature and the minister will be expelled from the cabinet anytime after the president's approval," the cabinet secretary said.
Earlier on October 3, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the file for his removal would be sent to the president for his approval immediately after his arrival.
President Abdul Hamid returned home Friday night from Saudi Arabia after performing hajj.
On September 28, Latif made derogatory comments on Hajj and Tabligh Jamaat while addressing a reception arranged by the Tangail expatriates in New York, USA.
Following the widespread criticism both at home and abroad, the government decided to remove Minister Abdul Latif Siddique from the cabinet.
