
Sources said, the body was handed over to the DMCH authorities at the Shaheed Minar around 1:47pm.
Earlier, people from all walks of life paid last respect to the Language movement hero Abdul Matin on the premises of the Central Shaheed Minar on Thursday noon.
The body was brought to the central Shaheed Minar around 11:45am.
At first, BSMMU authority paid respect by placing wreath at his coffin.
Later, leaders and activists of different political parties, including Awami League and BNP, also placed wreaths.
Veteran Language movement hero Abdul Matin passed away in city’s Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital on Wednesday morning at the age of 87.
Born on Dec 3, 1926 at Dhublia village of Sirajganj district, Abdul Matin was a leader of the Workers Party of Bangladesh. He was a student leader and one of the organizers of the Language Movement.
