
"There is no safety and security of the lives and property of people. It will not be possible for all to enjoy the pleasure of Eid properly in the context of the situation now prevails in the country," she said in a statement issued on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Azha on Saturday.
Khaleda Zia said price hike of essentials have pushed the poor and low-income group of people to untold sufferings. Severe crisis of water, fuel oils, gas and electricity has created a miserable situation in public life. Gas price is going to be hiked again. The government has become hectic to double the household gas price. The burden of gas price hike will be put on the shoulders of people at any time. It will aggravate the lives of middle- and low-income groups of people.
The BNP Chairperson called upon the affluent and well-off section of people in the society to extend their helping hands to the poor and needy. "We should be careful so that none is deprived of the pleasure of Eid. All must share the pleasure of Eid together," she said.
On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, Khaleda Zia also conveyed wishes to the Muslims of the world including Bangladesh.
