A fire broke out on the ground floor of a 10-storey building in Gulshan-2 of the capital city of Dhaka on Thursday evening.
Twelve fire-fighting units doused the flames at Gulshan Tower after an hour's frantic .
According to fire service officials, the fire originated at a clothes store on the ground floor of Gulshan Tower around 6:00pm.
On information, at least 12 units of fire fighters from different adjoining areas rushed to the spot and doused the blaze around 6:35pm, the officials said.
Tanharul Islam, senior station officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters, told The Daily Observer that panicked people of the building rushed to the top floor soon after the fire broke out.
He said they were bringing down the stranded people from the top of the building by using ladders.
The building near the Gulshan roundabout houses businesses and offices of various agencies.
Rafiqul Islam office-in-charge of Gulshan police station told this correspondent that many people had rushed to the roof as smoke engulfed the building. There has been no report of any casualty.
