20 hurt in Jamaat-Cops clash in Gazipur

GAZIPUR: At least 20 people, including a police official, were injured in Jamaat police clash in Kapashia upazila here on Wednesday night.

Twenty people, including Kapasia thana officer-in-charge Ahsanullah, sub-inspector Afsar Ahmed, constable Abul Kalam, special Ansar Yousuf, Jamaat leaders Imtiaz Hossain Bokul, Jasim, Ratan Master, Shahjahan, Alam, Siraj, were injured in the clashes.

Members of police arrested six Jamaat activists in this incident.

Locals said the clash ensued when   police resisted a procession, brought by Jamaat protesting the Supreme Court order that gave Delwar Hossain Sayedee to imprisonment until death, at Khirati Bazar around 8:00pm.

Police fired nine rounds of tear shells to bring the situation under control.

Police arrested Gaghtia union Jamaat former Ameer Aminuddin Mollah, 60, Jalaluddin, 50, Abul Kashem , 18, Mosharraf, 50, Mizanur Rahman, 20 and Masudur Rahman 43 for their alleged involvement in this incident.
