WHO DG praises BD's health sector achievements

Visiting Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr Margaret Chan on Tuesday highly praised the achievements of Bangladesh in the health sector, especially in women and child health, and said the other countries of this region can follow Bangladesh in this field.
Dr Chan said this when she met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at city's Hotel Sonargaon after the inaugural session of the 32nd Meeting of Ministers of Health of Countries of the WHO South-East Asia Region.
PM's Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury briefed reporters after the meeting.
The WHO DG thanked the Prime Minister for providing her government's support in holding the WHO South-East Asia region health ministers meeting in Dhaka. In reply, Hasina recalled the support of WHO to implement Bangladesh's health programmes.
Dr Chan hailed Bangladesh's significant successes in healthcare services of women and children and said the people of this region would remember Sheikh Hasina forever.    ?UNB
