
BAGERHAT: A case has been filed against 36 leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat-Shibir in connection with the killing of local Awami League (AL) leader Mozammel Shikdar in Morelganj uapzila.
Jahid Shikdar, son of the deceased, filed a case against 24 identified and 12 unidentified people with Morelganj Police Station on Friday, said Mohammad Aslam Khan, officer-in-charge of the police station.
Four people have been arrested so far in connection with the murder on Thursday, added the OC.
The arrestees were identified as Nurul Islam Talukdar and Quader Talukdar, sons of Abdul Gafur Talukdar, Rezaul Mridha, son of Sohrab Mridha, and Shahjahan Mridha, son of Hasmat Ali Mridha of Jeudhara village in Morelganj upazila.
Police produced them before Bagerhat Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Friday.
Mozammel Shikdar, 60, general secretary of no. 9 ward unit Awami League under Nishanbaria union of Morelganj upazila was stabbed to death by some miscreants over a land dispute at Jeudhara village in the uapzila around 9.00pm on Wednesday.
