The wedding ceremony of the minister's second daughter Syeda Sanjida Sharmin was held at the stadium at Raghunathpur on Thursday. Over 20,000 guests attended the ceremony. Five canopies were erected on the ground. One was for the groom's relatives and guests, one for the bride and women, another for guests coming in from seven Upazilas, one more for Hindu guests and another for 'miscellaneous guests.' Sand was poured onto the muddy north part of the field. The minister's act drew flack after the media reported about the demolition of the wall. Ali had earlier faced criticism for smoking at a programme attended by children and again for threatening journalists.
