
Indian National Award winner Bengali film 'Jaatishwar' might add in the list of next Oscar under the category of International film. The announcement will soon be made which films from India are going to participate for nomination in the next Oscar.
This Srijit Mukherji film is a highly expected candidate for the Oscar. A total of nine films are already submitted to the jury board and they are Rajinikanth featured film 'Kochadaiiyaan', Kangana Ranaut featured film 'Queen', Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan featured film 'Two States', Hansal Mehta directed film 'Shahid' and 'City Lights'. However, the chances of 'Jaatishwar' being selected among all the other films are highly probable.
Jaatishwar is an Indian Bengali musical drama film starring Prosenjit Chatterjee, Jishu Sengupta and Swastika Mukherjee. The main focus of the plot revolves around the life and notable works of Anthony Finingee (Hensman Anthony) acted by Prosenjit, a 19th century Bengali folk singer of Portuguese origin, along with other supporting characters. The music of Jaatishwar is composed by Kabir Sumon.
The film has been recognised as the most awarded film in the 61st National Film Awards receiving four awards in the Best Male Playback Singer (Rupankar Bagchi), Best Costume Design (Shaborni Das), Best Music Direction (Kabir Sumon) and Best Makeup Artist (Vikram Gaikwad) category.
