Novel way of treating stroke patient at BSMMU

Neuromedicine experts of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) have been successful in curing a patient of cerebral haemorrhage (Sub-Arachnoid Haemorrhage) without any operation through coiling process. A 60-year-old woman was the receiver of the painless process conducted by three stroke neurologists Dr Shahidullah Shobuj, Dr Anis Ahmed and Dr Shuvash Kanti Dey on August 26 at BSMMU.
The experts from BSMMU, hailed this success as a ground-breaking achievement in the country as this was the first successful attempt to practice the coiling process without any advocacy from foreign medical experts. This achievement has opened up a door for of hope for those patients who are afraid of any kind of medical surgery.  Meanwhile, a curriculum revision workshop on Cervical and Breast Cancer Screening programme was held at BSMMU auditorium on Wednesday. BSMMU Pro-vice Chancellor Shahidullah Shikdar was the chief guest and Health Minister Mohammad Nasim was the special guest at the programme.
The workshop was organised to raise awareness of primary screening of cervical and breast cancer so that the rural and destitute women are able to screen whether they are cancer patient or not. Participants in the workshop said that, if the cancer is screened in the primary stage then it is very much possible to cure the disease.
Health Minister Mohammad Nasim said, "I am a minister of the poor people. My cardinal concern is to ensure medical facilities for all." Speakers hailed the screening programme as ground-breaking and said that the significant portion of women will be benefitted by this programme.
