Reaffirming India's commitment to economic development of Bangla-desh, President Pranab Mukherjee said the two countries must sustain and accelerate the current momentum in all areas of bilateral cooperation.
"A democratic, stable and prosperous Bangla-desh is in India's interest. Geographic and economic complementarities of the two countries can be used for mutual advantage to improve the lives of people in India and Bangladesh," Mukherjee told Bangla-desh's Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury when she called on him at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Friday.
Mukherjee congratulated Chaudhury on her assumption of the office for the second term, saying India attached highest importance to its relations with Bangladesh, according to a press release issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday.
"India is fully committed to be a partner in the economic development of Bangladesh, "Mukherjee told her. He also fondly remembered his visit to Bangladesh in March 2013.
Speaker Sharmin Chow-dhury returned home yesterday ending her 3-day visit.
