LALMONIRHAT  Feb 9 : After five years the headmistress of Barakhata High School has  made a comeback in her chair at Barakhata village at Hatibandha Upazila in  in the distric.
The school's headmistress Moslema Khatun,wife of former state minister for primary and mass education, AL lawmaker Motahar Hossain didn't attend her duties in the last five years but she  received salaries and enjoyed other facilities. The headmistress Moslema Khatun didn't face any problem or she was not asked by any quarters regarding the issue, as her husband Motahar Hossain was state minister and also the president of school managing committee.
Teachers and staff of the school on condition of anonymity said  , Moslema Khatun used to stay in the capital
when her husband Motahar Hossain MP was made the state minister for primary and mass education in 2009. But she didn't give charge to any one to run the school, however she performed her duties  from the capital. She used to come here every month, and in this period she came in the school for  a short time only for okaying official papers in
"Everybody  including education officials, upazila administration  were well aware of the issue.  But none protested it for fear of  political  power and harassment," they said adding headmistress is back in her chair with in the first of January this year.
School sources said, in absence of the school headmaster Moslema Khatun, the assistant headmaster of the school Azizul Islam handled over all the official charges but papers were signed by Moslema Khatun as the assistant headmaster was not given power for signing papers.
 When contacted  the assistant headmaster Azizul Islam said," Our Moslema Khatun is very dutiful teacher and she never tries to evade her duty. Sometimes she went to the capital after taking leave according to official procedure. We didn't face any problem during her absence, as she monitored the management well." "As assistant headmaster I managed official activities when our madam was in leave," he said.
School students alleged, they didn't see their headm mistress Moslema Khatun in her chair in the last five years. Sometimes they faced trouble for the signature of institutioin head, as the she r was in capital.
The Hatibandha Upazila Sonali Bank Branch manager Mozaharul Islam said, the bank paid salaries to all the teachers staffs including the Moslema Khatun of Barakhata High School regularly.
 When contacted  the alleged school's headmaster Moslema Khatun said, she has been a diabetics patient for the last 21 years so she  fell sick and  underwent  treatment in the capital for long. Sheb took govt paid salaries that was  spent  for her treatment. She  retuned  in her chair, as she is now physically fit, she said denying the allegation she evaded duties willingly.
However the Hatibandha Upazila Education officer Taiyeb Ali said, he joined here recently so he doesn't know detail about the school and teachers, staff. He will investigate the matter if gets written complain from any corner, he said.
The local people at Barakhata village urged the higher authority concerned for the investigating the matter, and take necessary step.
