LALMONIRHAT, Feb 6 About 4,800 criminal cases have been lying pending in Lalmonirhat court due to Shortage of judges for the last two months. Poor pleads from different villages in the district have been undergoing untold. Suffering. The lawyesr in the court are seen passing their times idly. The financially solvent pleaders have made up their minds to go the High Court for legal practice.
The court official sources said, eight out of ten posts of judge Have been lying vacant for the last two months. Only two judges including chief judicial magistrate and senior judicial magistrate have been running their courts. The vacant judges' posts are district and session judge, joint district judges, judicial magistrates, sources said.
While talking to a poor pleads Meherun Bewa, Habidur Rahman, Mobarak Hossain came from Patgram and Hatibandha upazila said, they have been moving in the court area for the last two months but their cases are still pending due to shortage of judges. They spend their times and money everyday to communicate with the court, they said adding they are sufferings before getting justice.
While talking to the lawyes Shariful Islam Raju, Abu Hayat Khandaker Lelin, Kamal Roy said, they are passing their times very idly as they have no cases in the court as maximum cases are pending due to lack of judges.
General people and lawyers urged the authorities concerned of the government to post judges in vacant posts for Lalmonirhat as soon as possible to ensure the justice.
