3 businesses fined Tk 1.5 lakh for food adulteration

The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) in a drive yesterday at Jurain and Mirhazaribagh in the city fined three businesses Tk 1 lakh and 50 thousands for making consumer goods without obtaining or renewing CM License and preparing food in unhygienic atmosphere, said a press release of BSTI.
A mobile court, led by Executive Magistrate Rehanul Hoque raided three different business establishments ( Ulka Bakery at Mirhazaribagh, VIP Bread & Buscuit Factory  and Shadeshi Food Products at Jurain). The court found the same unhygienic atmosphere where workers were preparing bakery items. The court also found workers using textile dye, condensed sugar in bakery items and slapped Tk 50,000 fine on each of them, instantly realising the amount or in case of their inability to pay they are to suffer imprisonment for three months each.
