The Dhaka University authority yesterday conferred the prestigious "Deans Award" on 50 students of the faculty of biological science for their outstanding result in the Honour's final examination in 2012 at Nawab Ali Senate Bhaban of the University.
Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique was the chief guest awarded crests and certificates to the winners. The ceremony was presided over by Dr Md Imdadul Hoque the dean of the Faculty of Biological Science. Pro Vice Chancellor-Academic Professor Dr Nasreen Ahmad, Pro Vice Chancellor-Administration Professor Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain, the treasurer professor Dr Kamal Uddin, other deans, senate and syndicate members were the other guests present on that prize giving ceremony.
The Dean's Awards winners are twelve from Department of Botany, fourteen from Department of Zoology, three from Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, thirteen from Department of Microbiology, three from Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, three from Department of Soil, Water and Environment and two from Department of Fisheries.
The Vice Chancellor congratulated the students and said, 'Deans Award is a prestigious award. A good CGPA is not the only factor which determines a good student. Neither does it determine the future of a student. Students should concentrate on the welfare of the state and they must be a good human first.'
