Brothers defeat SK Russel

Mahtab Uddin : Without two important foreign midfielders in the team spiritless Sk. Russel were dumped by Brothers Union by solitary goal in BPL at Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.
Sk. Russel’s total seven players were in rest for injury including two foreign Midfielder Francisco Usucar and Maxime Eric Roger. After the barren first half the lone goal of the match was scored in the 72nd minutes.  Receiving the pass from Nigerian forward Kester Akon, Brothers forward Md. Rubel Miah converted it into the goal from the D-line and ensured the victory.
The first half of the match was uneventful as none were able to score despite creating several opportunities of scoring. In the 14th minute Sk. Russel attempted to score which was stopped by the goalkeeper of Brothers. In the 19th minute brothers’s Ghanaian defender Issah Yousuf aimed the ball into the goalpost. But, the ball passed by the right side of the bar. In 25th minute Brothers forward Jewel Rana missed a good chance to score. Brothers attempted for numerous times though Sk. Russel were able to hold them in the first half.
After the goalless first half, Brothers Union started the second half with new spirit. Russel tried their best to hold back Brothers but it didn’t take too much time for Brothers to show their strength. Before that Russel’s Moroccan forward attempted to sore which was trashed by a bicycle kick of Issah Yousuf, Ghanaian defender of Brothers. After the goal of Brothers, Sk. Russel became demented to equalise the score. But their numerous attempt diminished by Sabuj Das Rogu, the successful goalkeeper of Brothers.
Indicating to the number of injured players in the post match conference, Sk. Russel’s coach claimed that they played well. They failed as the luck was not with them. He also pointed out that referees were not fair to them in regard to some decisions. On the other hand, Sk. Russel’s coach believes that it was luck that helped them to win the match as they had little time to be prepared for the match. He claimed that they played in their traditional style.

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Ltd. Vs Soccer Club Feni at 4.30 PM at the same venue.
