Rashedul Islam Ratul :
Portuguese coach Rui Capela failed to help Mohammedan unlock Baridhara defence. Black and Whites faced their second draw in the BPL at Bangabondhu National Stadium yesterday.
Cepela blamed luck as they missed chances. “Bad luck as well as bad day for us. My boys were not in the best moments” Said Capela. This draw put them in a question of survival in the run of championship. To deal with the big teams like Jamal or Russel Capela demanded three players, a striker, a playmaker and a stopper to his manager.
Baridhara’s coach was very happy to his boys. “We are a new team and we practiced only 10 to 12 days. They are a big team and my boys were nervous so they missed chances. But my defenders played according to my instruction” said Baridhara’s Gk. Coach Alamgir. Baridhara played with a mixture of offensive and defensive format of 1-4-3-2 and it worked for them.
Earlier, Baridhara missed the first chance to score as forward Sumon missed it. He got the ball from the misunderstanding of Mohammedan’s defender in front of the box but failed to convert the open chance in the 14th minute.
After that Black and Whites started the exhibition of misfiring. In 30th minute Sohag passed the ball to Jahid in the box from the long throw of Tapu. But Jahid’s polio shot passed the post.
In the final minute of first half Wahed missed a chance from the box. After the break Mohammedan looked more attacking. But Baridhara created a nice opportunity of goal from a counter attack. Their Nigerian defender dribbled two defenders and pushed the ball to Nigerian forward Akindele. He nicely volleyed the ball but national team’s keeper of Mohammedan Mamun nicely fisted and saved it. After that Mohammedan missed some smattering chances of goals. The result could have been 1-0. But Baridhara’s defender Saeedur saved the brilliant volley of Ameli with his header from the goal line. At the last moment Saeedur again saved Baridhara. Jahid crossed a ball from the right side to unmarked Ameli but Saeedur cleared it.
With the last whistle, the football giant of Bangladesh Mohammedan left the field with one point.
