Four times champion of the Premier League traditional powerhouse Abahani shared point with the underdog Soccer Club Feni at Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday. Spoiling many chances the sky-blues left the field with a goalless draw.
Abahani passed up chances in a patchy opening period. Feni Soccer’s defenders stopped Abahani’s forward for first twenty minutes to hit on their post. Ghanaian forward Morrison hit first on the post of Feni Soccer’s in the 23rd minute. Moments later he missed again getting a right sided cross from Shariful.
In the 33rd minute Shariful nicely crossed a ball in the box but the low header of Towhidul did not hit upon the net.
Ghanaian forward of Abahani Awudu Ibrahim’s shot from the gathering in the D-box of Soccer passed the bar post in the 58th minute.
Osei Morrison drove over with the best opportunity in the second half as Soccer Club held on for a draw. Towhidul threaded an excellent ball in the D-box for him but his shabby shot found the safe hand of Soccer’s keeper Nehal in the 69th minute.
In the next minute Feni Soccer missed a great chance. Their Beninian forward Wassiou Okalawon set up a ball to Nigerian forward Ahmed Samson in the box. But his volley crossed over the bar.
Abahani missed the last just before the last whistle. Awudu Ibrahim missed again; his volley went over the bar. As the forwards of both teams failed to score, almost spectator less stadium tasted a goal less draw.
“We are very happy to get a point. We are still underdog in the league and hopefully my players will do well in future” said Soccer’s Coach Omar K Sisa.
“I am very upset to loss point. We missed many chances. Whatever two teams play today that was not foot ball. I am sorry to say this but I found no improvement in Bangladeshi football during last three years” said Aliakbar Pourmoslemi coach of Abahani.
