A fire broke out in a parked bus at House Building area of Uttara in the capital on Friday morning.
The incident occurred around 9:30 AM on Friday (January 30), when a bus belonging to Bhuiyan Paribahan caught fire while parked. No casualties were reported, as there were no passengers on board at the time of the incident.
According to police and fire service sources, the bus was parked in the Uttara House Building area.
Uttara East Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Morshed Alam said although the bus was parked, the driver and his assistant (helper) had left the engine running and got down to have tea nearby. During that time, a mechanical fault developed in the engine, causing the fire.
Upon receiving the information, two units of the Fire Service rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.
Fire Service control room Duty Officer Khaleda Yasmin said two units were dispatched immediately after the report was received. The fire was completely extinguished by 10:12 AM.
