Police recovered the floating body of a teenage boy from a water canal in Narayanganj's Bandar upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased, Redowan, 9, son of Shahjahan Khalifa, a resident of Mostofapur area under Kalapara upazila in the district, is Class III studnet of Nabiganj Jamiya Arabiya Darul Quran Islamia Madrasah.
According to locals, Redowan used to reside in a rented house with his parents. He on Tuesday went out from home and did not return. He had been missing since then.
Locals found Redowan floating on the water of the canal and informed police.
Being informed, a team of police recovered the body and sent it to Narayangaj General Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination, said Bandar Police Station officer-in-charge Tarikul Islam.
An unnatural death case has been lodged with the police station in this connection, the OC added.
