Body of missing man found in Noakhali canal

Police recovered the body of a man who had been missing for the last 10 days from a canal in Noakhali's Begumganj upazila on Thursday. 

The body was recovered from Wapda canal under Aman Ullah union in the upazila. 

The deceased was identified as Md Khokon Hossain, 65, a resident of Mozupur village under Ward No 9 in laxmipur municipality. 

It was learnt that Khokon had lived with his wife beside Char Wapda canal. His wife filed a missing person report with Begumganj Police Station on November 10. Later, on Wednesday night, a fisherman spotted Khokon's floating body in the canal while he was catching fish and informed the police. 

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Noakhali General Hospital for an autopsy, said Bakhtiar Alam, sub-inspector of Begumganj Police Station. 

The reason behind the death would be known after getting autopsy report, the police official added.
