Freight train engine catches fire in Mirsarai

The engine of a Chattagram-bound freight train suddenly caught fire in Mirsarai of Chattogram on Thursday.

Mirsrai Fire Service and Civil Defence Station Officer Imam Hossain Patwari said after receiving information on the National Emergency Service 999, fire fighters rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after an hour on Thursday.

No casualties however were reported, he said, adding that the rail communication with Dhaka has been disrupted following the incident.

Loco Master Md Shahjahan said that the fire started from the engine's adjuster. The freight train was going to Chattogram from Akhaura with parts of vehicles and electric products.

He said after noticing the fire, he called 999 for fire service.
