BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Friday said the people of the country would never accept the misrule of the current government.

"The people didn't participate in the dummy election (Upazila Parishad). But the chief election commissioner (Kazi Habibul Awal) is silent. He initially said around 35 to 36 per cent of the votes were cast. Later, he said that the voter's turnout was low for paddy harvesting. The CEC hardly tries to speak a little bit of truth. Sheikh Hasina started the forgery and misrule, but people will never accept it. We will have to build a united resistance protesting the misrule of Awami League-led government," he said.
He was speaking at a rally organised by the BNP at Nayapaltan in the capital on Friday afternoon to press home the demands of advanced treatment and unconditional release of the party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, withdrawal of 'false' cases filed against acting chairman Tarique Rahman, and release of the party's Dhaka South unit's senior joint convener Nabiullah Nabi and others.

Criticising a speech of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina that she is working to make the people of the country prosperous, Rizvi said, "I heard the speech of the prime minister a moment earlier. A person close to the prime minister is now on the global rich list. The name of that person also surfaced in a news report of Fox News."

BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy spoke at the rally as the chief guest with Dhaka South city BNP convenor valiant freedom fighter Abdus Salam in the chair.
