413 pilgrims leave Dhaka on Bimans first Hajj flight

The first hajj flight carrying 413 pilgrims left Dhaka for Jeddah early Thursday. The flight of Saudi Airlines left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at about 4:05am, according to the Religious Affairs Ministry and Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

According to Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the second flight of Bangladesh Biman left the airport at 7:20 with 417 pilgrims after Religious Affairs Minister Faridul Haque Khan inaugurated the flight at 5:30am.

According to Religious Ministry, a total of seven flights left Dhaka for Jeddah on Thursday. Around 2,785 pilgrims are likely to fly for Saudi Arabia on Biman flights.
This year, the Hajj is expected to start on June 14 and end on June 19.

The last Hajj flight will leave Dhaka on June 12 this year and the return will start from June 22 after the Hajj.

This year, some 80,695 Hajj pilgrims of 259 agencies will perform Hajj under private management. The agencies will be able to replace around 8,070 pilgrims, according to the decision of the government.

Besides, a total of 4,323 Hajj pilgrims will perform Hajj under government arrangement.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the national carrier of Bangladesh, will carry 42,509 pilgrims to the Saudi Arabia while Saudi Arabian Airlines and FlyNas will carry rest 42,509 pilgrims, according to the agreement signed between Bangladesh and Saudi government.
