Ex-AG Mohammad Ali passes away

Former attorney general and Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson adviser, Abdul Jamil Mohammad Ali, popularly known as AJ Mohammad Ali, died at a Singapore hospital early Thursday. He was 73.

He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore on Thursday at 2:20pm (Bangladesh time).

He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

Chief justice Obaidul Hassan has expressed deep condolences over AJ Mohammad Alis death.

In a statement, the chief justice sought salvation for the departed soul and conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, attorney general AM Amin Uddin, Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum, Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president and secretary were also mourned his death.

Mohammad Alis junior Md Asaduzzaman said that his senior was undergoing treatment in Singapore with diseases of postulated cancer and liver and kidney problem. AJ Mohammad Ali left the country for treatment on the morning of 28 April.

The body of Mohammad Ali, also the president of BNPs lawyer wing, Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum, would be brought to Dhaka on Friday, secretary of the forum Barrister Kysar Kamal said.
