At least four people were injured after an explosion at a house in Bogura sadar on Sunday night.
The injured were Rebeka Sultana, 40, wife of Rezaul Karim, daughter Sumaiya Aktar, 14, Jim, 16, daughter of Rashedul Islam, and Tasnim Bushra, 14, daughter of Ali Hossain Babu.
Bogura Fire Service and Civil Defense Assistant Deputy Director Abdul Jalil said the incident took place at the house of Rezaul Islam in Malatinagar Dakshin Para of the city around 9pm on Sunday.
He said they suspected that the explosion might have caused due to gas cylinder explosion but three gas cylinders of the house were found intact. Two rooms of the house damaged due to the blast.
All of the injured have been admitted to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, he added.
He mentioned that the cause of the explosion could not be known immediately.
Meanwhile, owner of the house, Rezaul said that her mother makes firecrackers in the house. He was not at home when the incident occurred.
Ashraf Uddin, inspector (in-charge) of Banani Police Outpost in Bogura, said the explosion damaged the tin roof and the brick walls of the house.
Bogura Superintendent of Police Sudeep Kumar Chakraborty said police have found gas cylinders, compressors, and phosphorous used in making firecrackers. In primary investigation it appears that all of this resulted in the explosion.
They will continue investigation into the matter and detectives are working. Explosives experts will be consulted if necessary. The cause will be uncovered shortly.
