Two drown in Padma river in Rajshahi

Two people drowned while bathing in the Padma River in Rajshahi district on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Bappy Hossain, 16, son of Babu Hossain, and Monir Hossain, 20, son of Hossain, both were residents of Sayergacha area in the city.

Quoting witnesses, Rajshahi Fire Service and Civil Defence Station's senior station officer Abu Sama said the duo drowned in the Padma river while they along with a group of people went down to the river to take bath in the afternoon.
On information, a diving from the station rushed there and recovered their bodies around 4pm, he said.

Rajshahi River Police Station's OC Md Moniruzzaman confirmed the matter, adding that the bodies were kept at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy and those will be handed over to the families after taking legal actions.
