Man killed, 21 hurt in Pabna clash over land dispute


A man was killed and 21 others were injured in a clash between two groups over a land dispute at Ishwardi upazila in Pabna district on Friday.

The deceased Khairul Islam, 40, was the son of late Nasim Uddin Pramanik and a resident of Chargargari Alhaj Mor Paschimpara under in Sahapur union of the upazila.
According to locals, there had been a loggerheads between the two groups over a piece of land and had a quarrel a few days back over the matter. As sequel to it, they locked into a clash around 3pm on Friday which left Khairul died on the spot and 21 from both groups critically injured.

Locals rescued the injured and sent them to a nearby hospital.

Ishwardi Police Station's officer-in-charge (Investigation) Monirul Islam said on information, additional police were sent to the spot and legal action will be taken in this regard.

The details of the incident will be informed later, added the police official.
