Woman 'hacked to death' in Mymensingh


Miscreants hacked a woman to death in Mymensingh's Nandail upazila on Wednesday.

The incident took place around 11:30 pm in Chari Ani Para area of the town.
The victim was Nazma Akter, 35, wife of Abdul Mannan, a resident of that area.

According to family of the victim, Najma, mother of four children, had dinner with family members on Wednesday night. After eating, she went out to buy betel around 10 pm. As she was late to return home, her family started looking for her. After a while, local residents reported that the mutilated body of a woman was lying in a paddy field some distance from the house. After getting the news, Najma's family members went there and identified her. Later, police went to the spot and recovered the body.

Nandail Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Sujan Mia confirmed it.

''It seemed that Najma's body was left in a paddy field after being hacked to death by unidentified miscreants. Police are working at the scene. More details will be given later, the SI added.
