BNP decides to boycott upazila parishad polls

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has decided to boycott the coming upazila parishad elections.

The decision was taken at BNP standing committee's virtual meeting on Monday night.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the announcement in a press release on Tuesday.

The BNP has boycotted the national and local government elections under the current Election Commission and due to the one-sided role of the administration and police. The environment for fair and peaceful elections has not yet been created. BNP has taken the decision to boycott the Upazila Parishad polls in all phases starting from May 8, the press release said.
