Child drowns in Noakhali

A four-year-old child drowned in a pond at Senbagh upazila in Noakhali district on Thursday.

The incident took place at Taherpur village under Kadra union of the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Tahsin Mahmud, son of Hadayat Ullah Mayaz, a resident of that village.

It was learnt that the child fell into a pond next to their house in the afternoon while he was playing near to the waterbody.

Later, locals rescued him and took him to the upazila health complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Nazim Uddin, officer-in-Charge (OC) of Senbag Police Station, confirmed the matter.
