Khulna's rail link with other parts resumes after 7 hrs, three suspended
Train services of Khulna with Dhaka and the country's northern districts resumed on Wednesday morning, after seven-hour of suspension following a collision between two freight trains near Ishwardi railway crossing in Pabna.
Pakshi divisional manager Shah Sufi Nur said around 7am, the rail communication normalised on all routes after relief train salvaged the goods-laden train and the oil-laden train.
Meanwhile, drivers of the two trains and assistant station master were suspended temporarily on charge of negligence.
A four-member probe committee has been formed to find out the reason behind the accident. The actual reason behind the collision would be known after the probe body submit the investigation report.
The collision between the goods-laden train and the oil-laden train took place at about 11:50pm on Tuesday in front of Ishwardi level crossing gate. One engine and two compartments were derailed after the accident.
As the main line on the Ishwardi-Khulna was blocked, the train services of Khulna with the capital and northern districts were snapped.
