Six men nabbed with drugs in Barishal, Gopalganj

Six people were arrested along with drugs in separate drives in two districts- Barishal and Gopalganj, in four days.

BARISHAL: Members of Department of Narcotics Control (DNC), in a drive, arrested two cousin brothers along with eight kilograms of hemp from Airport Police Station (PS) area in the city on Wednesday night.

The arrested persons are: Md Bellal, 47, son of Habibur Rahman, and his cousin brother Riaz, 47, son A Latif, residents of Panchabeki Rajbari area under Baldia Union in Nesarabad Upazila of Pirojpur District.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of the Detective Branch (DB) of Barishal DNC Ishtiaq Hossain said on information, a team of the department conducted a drive in Rahmatpur Bus Stand area under Airport PS in the city at around 8 pm, and arrested the duo along with hemp from a bus of BMF Paribahan.

The arrested brothers confessed of their involvement in drug dealing for long during the primary interrogation, the DNC SI added.

Assistant Director of the DNCs DB Enayet Hossain confirmed the matter, adding that a case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed with Airport PS against the arrested in the regard.

GOPALGANJ: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in a drive, arrested four drug dealers along with 50 kilograms of hemp from Sadar Upazila in the district on Sunday.

The arrested persons are: Aziz Sheikh, 26, and Jabed Hossain, 23, residents of Gopalganj; and Imanur Rahman, 21, and Arif Hossain, 26, hail from Chattogram District.

RAB-6 sources said acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force from Bhatiapara Camp conducted a drive in Haridaspur Purba Para Village under Sadar Upazila, and arrested the four from a pickup van.

The team also recovered a total of 50 kilograms of hemp from their possession at that time.

After filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act, the arrested were handed over to Gopalganj Sadar PS, the RAB-6 sources added.
