A naval ship followed the hijacked Bangladeshi ship MV Abdullah on Wednesday night to rescue the hostage sailors. An exchange of fire  also took place between the two groups. But, later, the navy ship withdrew for fear of causing the death of the hostages. A hostage sailor informed this around 11:40am on Thursday.

He said, "A ship from the navy on Wednesday night was trying to rescue us and for this, it was following our ship. They opened fired in the air. Then the pirates said they will kill us if the navy ship attacked MV Abdullah."

"Then the navy vessel went back after following the hijacked ship for 20 nautical miles. Our captain said that the navy ship was following us."

The informer said that he did not confirm whether it was a Somalian Navy ship. They suspect that the vessel was from UAE or any other Arabian countries. The hijacked Bangladeshi ship MV Abdullah has anchored 20 nautical miles off the Somalian coast.

The ship was anchored near Garacad area at about 1:00pm on Thursday. Bangladesh Merchant Marine Officers Association (BMMOA) confirmed the matter Thursday afternoon after collecting information from a global shipping source.
