Rohingya teen held while trying to make Bangladeshi passport

A Rohingya teenage boy was detained by the detectives at Comilla Regional Passport office while trying to obtain a Bangladeshi passport using fake name and address.

Rajes Barua, officer-in-charge of Detective Branch of Police, said the boy came to make his passport at the regional passport office in Noapara, Comilla on Thursday afternoon.

He submitted a birth registration certificate as the son of Zakir Hossain and Hasina Begum of Paschim Ghorashal Ward No 4 of Muradnagar Upazila.
Over suspicion, when the officials asked his address, he could not reply properly. Later, they informed the matter to the police.

During the interrogation, the revealed his identity as Yasir, son of Syed Hossain of Bolibazar area, and said he came to Cox's Bazar from Bali Bazar area in Myanmar 20 days ago. Later, the boy was brought to the police station.

He said police are investigating how the Rohingya boy got the birth certificate.
