Death toll from Rajshahi chemical taking rose to 3

The death toll from chemical taking incident in Godagari upazila on Thursday rose to 3 with one more died at hospital.

The deceased were identified as Bakul Hossain, 38, son of late Tofijul Islam, Towhidul Islam, 25, son of Yusuf Ali, and Dulal Hossain,25, son of Sirajul Islam. They all hailed from Chabbishnagar Daying para village in the upazila.

Hipjur Alam Munshi, officer in-charge of Gadagari Police Station, confirmed the deaths.

The deceased were workers of 'Team Pharmaceuticals' in City's Sapura area.

On Tuesday, eight workers had the chemical substance, stored in a drum at the factory, assuming it molasses with bread.

Later, one of the workers took the substance to his home in Godagari and shared it with his four friends.

All those who took the chemical started falling sick since early Thursday, the OC added.

They were taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where two died in the morning.

Later, Dulal died in the afternoon.

Nine others are undergoing treatment at the same hospital
