Construction of new 5-star hotel begins in Ctg
CHITTAGONG, Oct 9: Construction work of 'The Peninsula Chittagong Airport Garden,' a five-star hotel and sister concern of 'The Peninsula Chittagong Limited' has started in the vicinity of Hazrat Shah Amanat International Airport on Sunday.
Engineer Mosharraf Hossain Minister of Housing and Public Works inaugurated the groundbreaking on the site as the chief guest. The event was also attended among others by by Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Abdus Salam, Chittagong Zilla Parishad Chairman MA Salam, Peninsula Chittagong Limited Chairman Mahboob-Ur-Rahman and Managing Director Mustafa Tahseen Arshad.
'The Peninsula Chittagong Airport Garden, will be the first airport hotel in Bangladesh with almost 200 rooms with three multi-cuisine restaurants, three ball rooms and one infinity pool along with many other modern facilities, said the hotel officials.
Construction work of the five-star standard hotel will be completed within two years, they added.
Addressing the ceremony Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain said the new five-star will represent the Chittagong with its rich tradition, culture and heritage.
Keeping the considering of its necessity the decision for constructing a world-class five-star hotel adjacent to the airport has been taken, Minister said adding that foreigners including crews of airlines will be able to stay there.
Terming the new hotel as 'iconic', the housing and public works minister said it will be an exceptional structure for Chittagong. He also announced that another five-star hotel of international standard will be developed in the capital.
