Police foil Islami Andolan's march towards Myanmar Embassy

Police on Wednesday foiled Islami Andolan Bangladesh's march to gherao Myanmar Embassy at Baridhara in Dhaka.

Hundreds of party activists protesting Rohingya persecution in Myanmar’s Rakhine state were barred at Shantinagar crossing at 12 noon.

The party terminated its procession here after police request considering public sufferings.
Later, a five-member team left for the Myanmar Embassy to submit a memorandum containing their demands.  

Earlier, the protesters gathered at the North gate of Baitul Mukarrram National Mosque from 10am where a brief rally was held. party Ameer and Char Monai Pir Mufti Syed M Rezaul Karim spoke there.

Praising Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's role in giving shelter to the fleeing Rohingyas, Rezaul Karim said those who have conscience could not accept the brutality of Myanmar being unleashed on the Rohingya Muslims.

He also demanded implementation of recommendations of Annan Advisory Commission to resolve the ongoing Rhoingya crisis in Rakhine State, Myanmar.
