Crime incidents on rise in Comilla

COMILLA, Sept 12: The law and order situation in 16 thanas of the district is deteriorating day by day. According to a police report placed in the District Law and Order Committee meeting on Monday, more than 640 crimes were committed in August this year while 604 in July.
Deputy Commissioner Md Jahangir Alam presided over the meeting. Among others, Superintendent of Police Shah Abid Hossain, BGB Section Commander Lieutenant Colonel Khandaker Golam Sarwar, Additional Deputy Magistrate Azizur Rahman, Deputy Director of the Department of Narcotics Control Manjurul Islam, Executive Engineer of Roads and Highways Division Md. Saifuddin, BRTA Assistant Director Md Nuruzzaman, Chairman of Comilla Sadar upazila Aminul Islam Tutul, all upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs) and other officials of the district, were present at the meeting.
The Law and Order Committee report said, a total of 640 crimes were committed in the last month in all 16 police stations of the district.
Out of the 640 crimes, 11 were murder cases, 65 women repression cases, six robbery cases, four rape cases, and 554 miscellaneous cases including narcotics related crimes.
But crimes relating to violations and eve-teasing were not shown separately in the report placed by police at the committee meeting although eve-teasing has taken a serious turn in Comilla city.
Parents of school and college going girls are passing hours with tension nowadays until the safe return of their daughters.
But the law-enforcing agencies are allegedly paying little attention
