Third national conference for instrumentalists held

Bangladesh Musicians' Foundation (BMF) organised the 3rd National Conference of Instrumentalists at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the city on September 11. Two instrumentalists Ustad Basudev Das and Ustad Alauddin Miah were given the annual lifetime achievement awards at the event. Ustad Basudev Das is an expert of traditional flutes while Ustad Alauddin Miah is a maestro of violins. Ministry of Cultural Affairs, coorganiser of the event also awarded two lac taka cash to the elderly Pundit Madan Gopal Das. Madan Gopal Das plays Tablas usually.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was present at the event with singer Abdul Hadi. Noor said the government will look to appoint music teachers in every districts of the country.
He also related to the government's plans to preserve old traditional musical instruments like behala, bashi, pakhowaj etc. Senior Secretary of Ministry of Finance, Hedaytullah Al Mamun; general secretary of BMF, Debu Chowdury; president of BMF, Gazi Abdul Hakim were also present at the event. Many instrumentalists coming from different parts of the country attended the event. Vocalist Dinat Jahan Munni conducted the entire event.
